Hawden Park in Worcester, Massachusetts is a delightful treasure tucked away at 19 Heard Street. You can easily zip right by the entrance if you’re not carefully looking for it. There’s a baseball diamond, basketball courts, a nice playground, and LOTS of walking trails through woods and along a lake. There’s also a sledding hill.
There are two separate pond overlook areas for you to walk out and see the local birds. The entire park is just over 58 acres in size, so you can spend a lot of time in here. It was donated to the City of Worcester back in 1902 by Obadiah B. Hawden.
There’s a main road which is blocked to traffic that you can walk down, which is great for those with mobility issues. There are also networks of more challenging walking trails.
If you’re going for a walk, be sure to bring mosquito repellent! There are a fair number of mosquitoes along the pond.
