The Johnson Tunnel in Worcester, Massachusetts is wonderfully photogenic! It has great stonework as well as beautiful architecture all around it. Maybe that’s why Liam Neeson and his crew chose is at the location for the final climactic scene in Honest Thief. This is where the car bomb scene happens!
For my video, first I show you my own drive-through of the location, so you can see what it looks like. Then I show a few clips from the movie, so you can see how everything lines up. Then I do a drive-around of the scene area, so you can see it from all sides.
Landmarks featured in the video are the MCPHS University, which used to be a hotel. The old Worcester Courthouse is in there, which are now loft apartments. The red brick church with pillars is the First Unitarian Church, while the gray church is the United Methodist Church.
This is a VERY easy location to visit for yourself. You can stand in the very location that held Jai Courtney (playing John Nivens) and Jeffrey Donovan (playing Sean Meyers). Filming for Honest Thief took place in November 2018.
This is also the location where Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever filmed a car chase scene.
I filmed my video here in this tunnel on September 5, 2021, just a few days after Black Panther 2 filmed. Those skid marks you see in the tunnel are from the Black Panther 2 filming.
